Health & PE Workshops - Term 2
Sport Otago's Health & PE Workshops are practical, engaging and designed to enhance your Physical Education teaching! During Term 2, we're offering targeted professional development opportunities across the Otago region:
East Coast - MoveWell 30th April
https://forms.office.com/r/qkJ58BQ0Wx
This workshop will be on interacting, understanding and using the MoveWell Resource designed by Sport NZ. The aim of this workshop is that kaiako will come away with an understanding of how to use the resource to its fullest ability, new games to play with their tamariki as well as dipping their toes into linking physical activity with the HPE curriculum. If you have a copy of MoveWell, bring it along! You can find more details about the resource at: https://sportnz.org.nz/movewell/
Planning for PE - Turning PA into PE
Balclutha 13th May & Dunedin 19th May
https://forms.office.com/r/Cc5JuycEyK
There are many ways to plan for Physical Education, and often, school calendars shape what we focus on. But do you know which Achievement Objectives (AOs) you're actually achieving with your tamariki? This workshop is designed to support a mindset shift in how we approach PE planning. You'll walk away with a clearer understanding of the purpose behind planning, the ability to recognise and describe what makes a quality PE session, and practical tools and information to help you design effective, engaging lessons for your ākonga.
Wānaka Tai Tōrua (Changing the Tides)
Wānaka Primary School 27th May 8:30 – 3:00pm
https://www.penz.org.nz/event/tai-trua-wanaka
This is a whole day of personal development for Primary and Intermediate teachers, designed to help embrace inclusive, culturally responsive, and innovative practices in Health and Physical Education. This year, we are bringing you workshops on School Camps by Education Outdoors, Inclusion Training with the Halberg Foundation, Dance, Health, Ki-O-Rahi and more! With opportunities to connect and network with your local kura and kaiako from across the region, there will be something for everyone.
Sport and the Curriculum
Waitaki TBC & Central Otago 17th June
https://forms.office.com/r/ZMEEhFBriL
In this workshop you will be provided with a range of activities that you can take straight back to the classroom and put into action with your tamariki. We will briefly look at the HPE curriculum and some planning approaches. You will learn to recognise curriculum link opportunities and how you can keep the sport and skill development alive after an outside provider has been to your kura.
