Health & PE Workshops - Term 3
Sport Otago's Health & PE Workshops are practical, engaging and designed to enhance your Physical Education teaching! During Term 3, we're offering targeted professional development opportunities across the Otago region:
Planning for PE - East Coast Clutser
There are many ways to plan for Physical Education and, often, school calendars shape what we focus on. But do you know which Achievement Objectives (AOs) you're actually achieving with your tamariki? This workshop is designed to support a mindset shift in how we approach PE planning. You'll walk away with a clearer understanding of the purpose behind planning, the ability to recognise and describe what makes a quality PE session, and practical tools and information to help you design effective, engaging lessons for your ākonga.
Workshop date: East Coast Cluster - July 15

Te Whare Tapa Whā in the Classroom - Central Otago, Balclutha, Milton, Dunedin & Waitaki
Join us for an engaging workshop designed for teachers and kaiako to deepen their understanding of Te Whare Tapa Whā and explore practical ways to embed it into Health and Physical Education and everyday classroom life. This workshop will empower teachers to use Te Whare Tapa Whā as an underlying concept throughout their teaching, supporting tamariki to reflect on and better understand their holistic wellbeing. You'll leave with tools, lesson ideas, and strategies to weave the model meaningfully into your teaching, helping students connect learning to their everyday lives and build lifelong wellbeing skills.
Workshop dates:
Cromwell - July 30th
Queenstown - July 31st
Dunedin - August 4th
Waitaki - August 5th
