Playground Markings Package

For primary and intermediate schools

Introduction

Traditionally, playground games have always been an integral part of childhood leisure time, which is not surprising given the fact that children can spend up to 21% of their time at school in the playground. As well as offering children an opportunity to be physically active during the day, games played during break time also provide children with a vehicle for social interaction and a platform for creativity.

So, here at Sport Otago, we now have a selection of playground stencils available to schools to use. We hope that this resource will assist not only teachers, but also the school community, in getting children ‘more active, more often’.

Great, So How Do We Go About It?

Stencils will be hired to schools on a first-in, first-served basis. The stencils will be hired out to each school for one week only, with collection to be Monday after 2.00pm, and the return time the following Monday before 10.00am. There is a $100 refundable bond payable in full before pick-up of the stencils and you will need to sign a form which holds you responsible for covering any costs should the stencils be damaged.

In order to apply the paint, there is an electric powered spray gun available to use.  Once again, we ask you to take responsibility for any costs of repair.

We have also worked in conjunction with Xella Super Coat Ltd to get the best deal possible. This paint is specially formulated to ensure that it will last a long time on asphalt, yet will easily wash off the stencils. You will need to order the paint 3-4 days in advance, and you can either pick the paint up yourself or Xella can deliver at a small cost.
