Working On Behalf Of The Clutha Community

Sport Clutha is a partnership between Sport Otago, the Clutha District Council, the Clutha Licensing Trust, the Community Trust of Otago and the Southern Region PHO.  It aims to address the sport and recreation requirements of people living in the Clutha District.

 Sport Clutha is a regional office of Sport Otago, established in 2006  to address the sport and recreation needs of the Clutha community, and to coordinate access to the range of services available through Sport Otago.  The Sport Clutha programme is delievered in the Clutha District, including Milton, Waihola, Lawrence, Kaitangata, Owaka, Clinton, Clydevale, Tapanui and Balcutha.

Aims And Objectives

Sport Clutha was set up to target these key objectives:

• Provide first point of contact for information and inquiries.

• Facilitate local training opportunities for volunteers, coaches, officials and administrators.

• Identify needs and solutions with local community sport and recreation providers and assist them in developing appropriate policies.

• Coordinate the sharing of good management practice between clubs, codes and communities.

• Assist with the coordination of local events.

• Be the local contact for other Sport Otago programmes, such as Green Prescription, Active Movement and CoachForce.
