Otago / Southland Secondary School Triathlon Championships Print E-mail

web sec school triathlon champs 2010_1The Otago / Southland Secondary School Triathlon Championships were held on 25 February in Cromwell.  This Otago Secondary School Sports Association (OSSSA) event was supported by Bill and Leanne from Sport Central.

Based at McNulty Inlet the Cromwell based course included a 300m swim, 20km bike and 6km run.  A new innovation this year was the inclusion of a kayak option which athletes could choose instead of the traditional swim stage.

Perfect weather conditions enabled the students to perform at their best and the first runner finished in just under one hour.  The effort put in by the athletes was reflected in very close results across the sections; in the female team category there was only a 9 second difference between first and tenth place.
