Information: John’s role as chief executive is to provide leadership and management to the staff of Sport Otago, plan and implement Sport Otago’s strategic initiatives and programmes throughout the Otago region and to ensure accountability for the quality, quantity, timeliness and cost of Sport Otago outputs. He is also focussed on sustaining and improving the capability of Sport Otago, managing and fostering external relationships with key partners in the community and brings a region wide perspective to Sport Otago’s work. John has a long and extensive involvement in sport as a previous track athlete, coach, administrator and Board member prior to his appointment at Sport Otago. John was involved in contract and infrastructural project management in both the private and public sector. John has experience in local government, education and the health sector.
