Nigel joined the Sport Otago Board after finishing as Principal at Kaikorai Primary School at the end of 2010.
Nigel has had wide experience in roles of governance, as a Board of Trustee member on the Board of Wakari, Balaclava, and Kaikorai Primary Schools, and as a Member of the New Zealand Educational Institute (NZEI) National Executive for 12 years. He has worked across all areas of education as a Teacher, Principal, Lecturer at the College of Education, Advisor to schools, and with Education Review Office in Otago and Southland. As a member of the NZEI Executive he has worked at policy level, involving all aspects of Early Childhood and Primary Education.
Nigel is a keen sportsperson, encouraging children to participate in a wide range of sporting events. This has involved working with Sport Otago at schools he has worked in and he is now enjoying the opportunity to support our organisation by being a member of the Board. He has coached at different levels, including representative teams. Nigel has played a variety of sports, and is currently involved in mountain biking, walking, attending the gym, and he also enjoys gardening. |
