Dot is married to Russell (ex Otago cricketer and basketballer) with three grown up children, Chris (Sydney), Amanda (Dunedin) and Anthony (Wellington). She was born in Queenstown in 1950 and educated in Dunedin at Maori Hill School, Otago Girls High School and Otago University.
Dot graduated in 1981 with a Batchelor of Commerce and is currently the Financial Controller at Allied Press Ltd, the publisher of the Otago Daily Times and several community newspapers.
Dot has been involved in sport all her life competing in athletics, netball, basketball, touch, indoor netball, softball, and tennis and continues to participate in the Dunedin Netball Competition. She has coached many school and club netball teams over the past 30 years and regularly umpires in the Saturday netball competition.
Dot has held numerous administrative positions on sporting, kindergarten and school committees, along with serving as the honorary auditor of several non profit organisations. She spent a number of years on the Otago branch committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. In her spare time Dot enjoys reading, walking, food, wine and spending time at their holiday home in Wanaka. |
