One of our most important roles of Sport Otago is improving the capabilitiy of sporting clubs. We know most club administrators are volunteers who are passionate about their sport. We also know that a lot of them get thrown in the deep end and wind up spending more time figuring out what to do than getting things done. Don't worry, we're here to help. Your first point of contact is our Sport Development and Funding Advisor, Tony Stevely. He can advise you on a wide range of issues, including governance, meeting procedures, working with Council, accounting and your funding plan. If the help you need is with off-field issues you should be in touch with Tony. You can contact him here.
If you want help with on-field issues, such as coaching, player retention, training officials or improving your delivery to your stakeholders, you need to talk to our Sport Manager, Mike Weddell. With over 40 years experience in the sport sector there are few problems out there that Mike has not encountered before. You can contact him here.
If you are based outside Dunedin feel welcome to call your local regional office for advice. Our regional coordinators have both experience in the sport sector and valuable local knowledge. For the contact details of your local office click the link below: There is also a great source of information available in the SPARC (Sport And Recreation New Zealand) Club Kit which you can access here. In the Club Kit there are many templates, resources, samples and success stories you can use in your own club administration. If you're not sure who you need to talk to feel free to give us a call and just explain what your issue is and we'll find someone to help. Sport Otago is there to help and it only takes a phone call to get started. Contact us here.
