Developing Hockey Across Otago CoachForce is a major and vital part of Otago Hockey. Development of coaches and players is coordinated and facilitated by the CoachForce Regional Development Officer, Mark Smithells. The CoachForce programme is delivered across the whole Otago region with the support of our regional offices, and involves courses, clinics, seminars and school visits. Mark also delivers programmes on behalf of Hockey NZ within our region. Currently Otago Hockey is experiencing significant growth especially in junior numbers and consistent results across a number of key areas. A pool of very skilled and experienced coaches, umpires and administrators has been developed, along with an effective strategic plan which is designed to meet the needs of the sport in Otago. The Otago men's and women's teams are in the National League and our players are being consistently selected for national training
