Developing Golf Across Otago Golf is a major participation sport across Otago and we also have a strong track record of developing talented amatuer and professional golfers. It is a game that can be taken up at any age, and is equally suited to men and women. The role of CoachForce Golf has three main focus areas: 1. Junior Club Golf. The focus is on getting as many clubs to sign up to NZ Golf's 'Junior Plus' programme. 'Junior Plus' is designed to help golf clubs develop quality junior golf programmes. It was developed by NZ Golf and provides a national standard of excellence for junior golf programmes. 'Junior Plus' enables clubs to provide a welcome environment for young people and a structured junior programme based on quality coaching. 2. Volunteer Coaching Courses. Using NZ Golf's coaching programmes, the CoachForce Development Officer runs training days for volunteers to come and earn a level one or two qualification. By doing this we increase not only the number of coaches but also increase the quality. 3. Increase Junior Playing Numbers. This will be achieved by using NZ Golf's schools programmes, including KiwiGolf, In2Golf and GolfLinx. By using these systems and creating valuable links from schools to clubs it is anticipated playing numbers will increase across all ages.
