Support for Otago Elite Athletes

web skeggs foundation copyThe Skeggs Foundation was founded in 1993 with the specific aim of providing financial assistance to elite Otago athletes, helping them to attain their goals and to offset disadvantages of geographic location.

The Foundation makes grants to athletes in March and September each year.

Grants are funded entirely from corporate donations, sponsorships and specific fundraising events such as the Skeggs Heritage Club lunches. All sponsorship monies will go directly to supporting athletes and coaches.

The Foundation has contributed more than $2 million to hundreds of athletes, from more than 60 sports, to allow them to pursue their goals.

Among the athletes the Foundation has supported are two All Black captains, Anton Oliver and Taine Randell, Silver Ferns captains Lesley Nicol and Belinda Colling, champion sprinters Chris Donaldson and Cory Innes, record holding cyclists Greg Henderson and Alison Shanks, champion diver Kate Stevely, X-Games medalist Jossi Wells, Olympic and Commonwealth Games athletes, many national champions… the list of sporting talent is impressive.
