Active Movement Workshops Print E-mail

These workshops are fun and interactive.  They focus on the importance of getting kids moving by incorporating some really practical ideas for teachers and parents to learn and share with the children in their care.  These workshops will be on offer again from the beginning of 2012.  All of the workshops are free and open to all parents, educators and caregivers.

Introduction To Active Movement

This workshop explores two areas: the principles of Active Movement and the potential benefits of Active Movement for our young children.

Tummy Time, Rolling And Crawling

Emphasises the importance of tummy time, explores the midline concept and covers practical ideas for promoting tummy time, rolling and crawling.

Balance - Swinging, Spinning And Rocking

This workshop look at some key aspects of balance, the vestibular and proprioceptive systems, and the impact they have on the the growth and development of our 0-5's.  It also includes practical activities to stimulate these systems.

Eye Movement, Catching, Throwing And Kicking

This workshop focuses on the importance of eye movement, hand/foot-eye coordination, temporal awareness or timing and activities that improve catching, throwing and kicking skills.

Walking, Running, Jumping And Upper Body Development

Here we talk about the walking process, learning to stop, safety aspects and running and jumping activities.  It also covers upper body development - specifically climbing, hanging and swinging.

Games For Under 5's

This workshop shares practical ideas of games and activities that develop fundamental movement skills and improve memory.
